Fort romain mur d'Hadrien

If you just want to see the wall and not the old fort ruins, then just walk along the wall for free. But if you have the time, the museum is interesting and not expensive. You really get the sense of tough life of our History.

Talk about being out in the middle of nowhere! You’re driving on these narrow winding roads all of a sudden… There’s this awesome set up of buildings and old Roman ruins. They have a café, a gift shop, movies, all sorts of things. Definitely was surprising what we found. And very cool that we got to touch some thing that was built 2000 years ago!

£15! While having tea at the cafe I saw five families look at the fee and turn around. What a shame. I saw every hiking group read the fees and turn away. Lower the fee and you’ll make it accessible to more people and probably make more money. Between parking and entry fee you’ve priced out the average family as well as young people.

Nice EH site with a good visitors centre and helpful staff. Site is limited in its excavations to the perimeter walls grain stores and gate houses but the secret is the view over the valley which was obscured by the drizzle when we visited

Visited Birdowald (Banna) Roman Fort as it was almost on our way home. Lots of information about what things were and how they looked. Friendly staff in shop. Worth a visit to see the wall. I left with a burning question on my mind....considering how tall, thick and long the wall was where did all the stone go...there didn't seem to be enough newer buildings around to use it up.

Considering this costs as much as both Housteads and Vindolanda, there isn't as much to see.
